Hello Artsy Peep! Welcome or welcome back! As artists, we can all agree that we are big dreamers and daydreamers. Setting big goals and expectations for ourselves. Which can be a blessing and a curse. The blessing, being capable of creating artwork that really opens up the viewers imagination, heart, or mind! The flaw is getting overly excited about our big dreams. We do not stay grounded and end up making massive goal lists for ourselves. In doing so, this can create procrastination, anxiety, and never accomplishing our dreams into reality. Today, we will be looking over my past years. We want to review and learn from them. This will help us make healthier habits and realistic goals for the new year! Being kind to ourselves and allowing our passions to grow into a quality, structured, organized business! Please take what I say with a grain of salt. This is what is working for me so do what feels right for you! As long as it gets you to your goals in the healthiest manner. The Power Of A Mini Notebook: 24:26
Here are some tips to actually create goals for your dream life into reality. The first step is being really honest with yourself. Where are you in your life financially and emotionally? Sometimes, we need that year to get back on our feet. It’s important to find ways to save money. You may also need time to heal from a relationship if you went through a hard breakup. Creating that foundation first for long term success. This can make goal setting easier for your passions. You avoid putting big expectations to get it all done in one year. Healing or becoming financially structured can take time. We tend to want things now. Keep in mind, you’re here to get yourself in a place of running a quality, successful business. Like I say in most of my vlog/blog, Rome was not build in a day.
Reviewing your past years’ written goals, if you haven’t thrown them away, can be the first step. This helps you see what you can improve on. For me, it was setting goals that I just couldn’t afford yet. Or, I wrote fun daydreams to escape my reality. I wanted to get a motorcycle license or take circus classes haha. I was able to attend classes but couldn’t afford to stay in the classes. At that time, my life revolved around paying rent. I focused on buying groceries. Keeping a roof over my head was also a priority. A savings account with a high yield would have been the starting point for these fun endeavors. So then, when the time was right, I could finally write out that goal. I could accomplish it successfully for the new year! Taking small actions in the beginning results in creating lasting success!
Mini tip here to achieve your new year goals. If your mind chatter won’t stop and you know you’re supposed to be working on your art or a project, try using a small hand-held notebook. For example, your brain might be thinking thoughts like, I need to do the laundry, I need to do grocery shopping, I need to put Christmas away. Use it to word vomit. Write all the stuff that’s on your mind. Now set a timer for yourself. I will work on my art for two hours. After those two hours has passed, give yourself a 30 minute break. During that break, you can look back at your notebook and choose to do one or two of those tasks. Usually, once I’ve started on my art work and have had a good session, some tasks seem less hectic. They also don’t appear as important as they did initially. But please do make your bed and brush your teeth haha.
Thank you artsy peeps so much and happy new year!
