For years, I have been trying to figure out the right art journey for me. For the past couple of months, I’ve been thinking about doing gallery pieces and art fairs. A YouTube addict like myself, I’ve been watching and listening to other artists that already do this full-time. I learned different print on demand websites to make quality prints, setting up for shows, emailing galleries, etc. I felt pretty content with this decision. However, As you can see by the title, I had a weird art “omen” thought pop into my head that I have not thought of for quite sometime. It’s not like I was thinking about this certain thing recently. I actually gave up the notion. Anyway, I woke at 2:00 A.M. in the morning and the first thought that came into my head was children’s books illustration.

Where the heck did that come from? Seconds later, I went back to sleep. Feeling puzzled the next morning, I brewed my self a cup of hot tea, checked emails like I usually do and decided out of curiosity to start doing research on children’s book illustration. The first couple of videos were about the process they went through. How they were able to illustrate from the written words or persuading the mood with color. Next was about how to get connected and work with a writer. Down the rabbit hole I went until I came across self publishing. I didn’t think you could actually sell from self publishing. I thought to make an actually income from it, you had to go through a publisher. But that’s not the actual case! It’s absolutely possible to self publish and be able to make income from it. Depending on which websites you choose, most of them you can even distribute globally!! I gave up the notion of even considering children’s books a while back. I was afraid that if I went through a publisher, that my style would be too overwhelming for Sally’s ABC book. So they tell me to change my style. Or two, that you couldn’t do much with your self published books. That it’s was for a afternoon craft or hobby to read to your kids.

I have definitely been trying to find a meaning and purpose behind my art! Praying and meditating on it with source/God. What I’m hoping is that if this all goes well, I can do gallery pieces on my “down time” then start up a new book again! I use to make a lot of books as a kid. It was something I truly enjoyed. It’s funny how this is looping around for me 🙂 If I do go through a publisher(which I’m definitely not opposed of) That we would be a right match for each other. After doing more homework on it and currently taking classes on it, the more excited I am about it. I spent one morning on my back patio writing idea after idea for books.
